Silver Skate 2006 INFORMATION
Venue: The Kuopio City Ice Rink, Hannes Kolehmaisenkatu 4, Kuopio, Finland.
Time: Friday 31.03. - Sunday 02.04.2006.
Categories: Chicks, Cubs, Springs, Debs and Novices. For each age group A and B categories .
Judging: In the two youngest categories the Finnish "star" judgement according to the acquired skills and performance. Springs - Novices according to the modified new ISU judging system. There will be no 6.0 scoring.

Silver Skate - What is it?
Why?
On a simmering hot evening summer 2002 a bundle of parents and coaches from KuTa sat by the lakeside and wondered…why on earth are we spending our time by parenting by the gloomy rinkside in a skating camp during the brightest summer days ?
The answer was quite simple. Because of the young skaters. But of course this kind of an answer always evokes more questions. What is there to do to make all this worthwhile and interesting to the entire family, which is involved anyway ? Practice, camps, shows, competitions – yes, travel and meeting new people is always fun. And then it dawned to all of us. What we needed to arrange was an international competition and bring other skaters to Kuopio, to learn and to have fun.
How? There are two basic ideas behind:
- This is the place for everybody to show their best performance, to see what others are doing and to learn from it in the end of the season.
- This is the place for the skating families and clubs to meet new friends and to try new things in a relaxed atmosphere.
